PHILIP ANSELMO Delivers 'Brutal' Theme Song For TOM ARAYA As Part Of 'Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre' Soundtrack
February 8, 2019PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo delivered a brutal theme song for SLAYER legend Tom Araya as part of the soundtrack for "Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre". A teaser for the track, which is out today on all digital platforms worldwide via Art Is War Records, is available below. The full soundtrack will be released in early April.
Directed by Joshua Allan Vargas, who has worked on music videos for DOWN, SOIL, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS and WARBEAST, the film — due this summer — is about a hair metal band that, while struggling to find its own identity, decides to record its first full-length album is a creepy cabin located in the middle of a notorious cemetery. Chock full of weed, coke, and booze, the band discovers a secret in the cellar and unwittingly open a gate that allows demons to possess the corpses in the surrounding cemetery. Forced to have to survive the night and with the odds getting slimmer, the band must battle hordes of the demonic undead and hope to get a record deal somewhere in the process.
Written by Joshua Allan Vargas and Jvstin Whitney, based on a story by Jvstin Whitney, "Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre " features cameos by Araya, Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD) and David Vincent (MORBID ANGEL). Film narration was provided by actor Norman Reedus.
Says Vargas: "It's amazing to see this all finally coming to fruition as Jvstin and I have worked VERY hard on this film. After our production facilities were flooded during Hurricane Harvey, we weren't sure the movie would come out, but fortunately you can't kill metal!
"To have so many metal legends involved in this project is such dream come true. Tom, Randy and David kill it in the movie. It was so cool for Philip to write and record Tom's theme song for us. Philip and Kate Richardson are EASILY two of the coolest, most beautiful people to walk the planet.
"Norman was absolutely a blast to work with. It doesn't take but a three-second Google search to see that Norman is a total metalhead, having performed on stage with ANTHRAX and riding bikes with Marilyn Manson. I've been a fan of his since he was mopping the prison floor in the movie '8mm' and the guy is one of the most naturally talented actors on the planet.
"This is a film made FOR fans of horror and metal BY fans of horror and metal and it was important that the film and soundtrack reflected that. From having Philip do Tom's theme song to having '80s metal legends HELSTAR do the music for the band in the movie.
"If you grew up watching '80s splatter flicks while blasting 'Rust In Peace' and 'Seasons Of The Abyss', this movie was made for you!"
